Animania :D

So :-?... what would you call a 20+ guy sitting glued to his comp/TV set for hours long watching nothing but animated TV series..... Dude, Grow up!! Have some life !!!
Its fun to discuss those old days but come on who really would watch more than 100 episodes of a silly anime and wait desperately for the next week just to see another ... As if this was just not enough... those TV series are in JAPANESE!!! ...so all that takes in understanding the entire thing is a constant read through the subtitles crawling below. Also in a place like ours with robust LAN connections, Its never late for you to get the fever.... entire collection of the series is just a click away !!
This is what i always thought and declared people who watched animes as crazy and the ones with nothing better to do... Makes sense isnt it !! ...obviously i am expecting that u are not one of those freaks just described above. With all those preconceived ideas and prejudice I never touched any of those more than 200 GB collection (i may be grossly underestimating) until recently :D.
Ya, I mean breaks between exams are that extra cunning that force you to try every bit you would never have in your otherwise wise times. So, the inevitable happened with the curiosity once curbed deep inside and I managed to download a few episodes and give a try... for the more knowledgeable it was nothing but NARUTO vs GAARA episode !!
What else then .... there was no looking back... my instincts kicked so hard that I downloaded each and every episode from the start and finished the set of around 100 episodes in a weeks time.... it started with the anime serving as a break between the studying part and then it just got reversed now it was studies in breaks :D... and now its not just "Naruto" but even "Bleach" and "Avatar" that I long for :P
Now that I have accomplished a level in the circles.... I went a step ahead by browsing forums that discuss these animes and predict the future of its characters and the stories .... not to mention there exist manga comic pdfs that are released simultaneously and that the TV series lags behind ... so you can get hold on the future happenings in a more reading fashion :P ... well i am still to get hooked to this and I prefer to stick to the Idiot box and be faithful to is as it was the one that made the boring exam life a hell interesting :D.
A different perspective to the whole thing is that I really admire the way the authors have created so many distinct characters with each one having a unique personality and also the artwork that goes in making them come alive simply takes my breath away :D... no wonder i myself had some futile attempts at learning how to sketch manga... and now the best I ever made looks so bland in front of these master creations.

There is no problem with a 20+ guy watching something as puerile as naruto, manga etc. The problem arises when this 20 something guy calls over people to his room to spend some time together ( For the others : Its nowhr close to 'making out').. and then very smartly tries to push down doses of bloody naruto down their throats. And you forgot something.. its not only the 200gb and the LAN tht has been the driving force.. you also have enormous Godgiri patience to stream some more idiotic shows from the net and watch them. I hope i have managed to convey something :P
Btw , sai dont grow up!!
Yatta!!
Ohayo Sai-kun!
Dattebayo!!!!
First of all the choice of topic is very good and the point is conveyed in a beautiful and rational manner.
Me, myself being an anime lover can say that the people who dont watch can not feel their magic and dont understand tht animes are not only about kids watching tom and jerry, powerpuff gals and scooby doo( note the difference between animes and cartoons) but also about great plots, infinite creativity and beautiful artwork .
Cummon Sai, nwo start FMA :P
well..i agree with you partly..i also admire the brilliant creativity that animes like naruto show in terms of animation..
but i still feel that its just another storyline that doesn't impress everyone..its a matter of personal preference..not everyone can digest the japanese stuff!! :)
@arunabh: u remember things pretty well .... should've asked you to pen the blog for me :P.... well i couldnt understand why the concluding comment of "not growing" !!
@giddu: Yare Yare.. giddu-kun !!
@shintu: thanks for all the "beautiful" and "very good" words bestowed upon the topic :P ....
ya ya ....now that u've said abt it ... i shall think ... keep visiting :D
@anonymous: Well digesting the Japanese wont be a hurdle once you start appreciating .... tell me how many Chinki, Korean movies u would have watched in spite of the language barrier ..... cummon appreciation for a good plot is never limited by the language otherwise we wouldn't have so many movies going for Oscars.... personal preference is something that i wont debate upon :)
abey in the 'avator' pic the guy on the extreme right (as i see it on the pc) looks like your animated version with the '/:)' almost there :D
@arunabh: ha ha.... as a matter of fact he is a very cool guy though he lacks any supernatural capabilities like the other two in that pic :((
again..i don't agree with you completely.. :)
i too have liked movies like 'my sassy girl'...and agree that language is the barrier ever..
but again..i feel that not all japanense or korean stuff have great storylines...some may find naruto entertaining, others might find it hard to digest japanese stuff..its finally boils down to personal taste! :)
oops sorry..small correction.. :P
'language is not the barrier ever'
@anonymous: See you saw "my sassy girl" and u liked it in spite of everything, just because you gave it a try .... come on just don't behave in a prejudiced way against these animes without even trying them once :P
Poora post nahin padha - pan did realise that you are lukkha in life! Tch Tch Tch ..
@gangal: "pura nahi padha" !!!
nice way to appreciate :D ... seems u are just the opposite :P
Even i love animation. But never had the chance to zee the Jap animz. Are these aired any whr or just meant for the iitianz..hehe.
Came to yor blog after a long time/ refrezhing post :)
hey prachi ... its nothing like aired for iitians or something .... just that students download them from the net.... they dont telecast them in india... so people pick them from there. but telling you !... they are just too addictive :D
hei hii "baba" well i agree wid u. To an extent i ws also crazy about these animated cartoons...I loved to watch pokemon and transformers armada...i guess these wer d latest that i followed..n cartoon network being my favourite tv channel...but recently it has been greatly been dominated by japanses cartoons and tiny tv...for less dan 2 year olds....this has made me loose interest in them... cartoons shld nt be made like dat tiny tv sort...i believe they should invoke imagination in young n thus be made from the pr4espective of elder viewing audience....
all the more they are the ones that give refreshment during exams....any time better than watchin ekta kapoor cerials or any other crap on tv.....one generally feels elated n entertained aftr watchin them... :)
Hey have blogrolled u....
@devar: oye these are very much for adults too and the story lines are anything but boring or cliche :P .... i had a gala time during my endsems ... and heard that the anime fever is catching up in the colony too ... sahi hai... keep visiting !!!
naruto rocks!..there is no denying tht.
"Dude, grow up! Have some life!" :p
Heard that before :p ??
Kidding kidding... hurling jibes can be fun! On a more serious note... animes are the creations of some highly artistic, creative people who dare to channelise their energies in the direction of hugely captivating characters who transport us to the irresistible realm of fantasy. A tribute of sorts to the fraternity. Good job :)
